Painting Reproductions
A number of Richard’s paintings have been reproduced in high quality Giclee format. Giclee (pronounced Zhee-clay) is the French word for spurt or squirt, to describe the IRIS printing process. They are reproduced in limited edition, are signed by the artist and are often enhanced with a unique alteration to each reproduction. Giclee prints are now widely shown and distributed throughout the world. For Giclee paintings available contact the artist at rsmcdhu@shaw.ca .

Voyage of Inspiration – Haida Gwaii
(Original paintings are 36″x48″ vertical – acrylic on canvas)
“As the year 2000 rolled over, a group of nine artists started a series of annual painting expeditions along the rugged B.C. West Coast. All were familiar with working on location and eagerly explored and painted in remote settings, often accessible only by boat or seaplane. One of the first trips was in to the Queen Charlotte Islands where twelve days were spent collecting reference material and painting in many of the old Haida village sites. This was made possible by a Haida friend and his wife and son, who ferried us from location to location on board a 75 foot converted fishing vessel. Landings were made using a 17 foot flat bottomed aluminum skiff. The experience resulted in 23 location paintings (oils) for myself and many other works within the group.
I continue to paint and develop ideas from this trip and the most recent includes a series of larger works that engage the mystery of this place as well as honouring the ancient presence of the Haida culture and other First Nation peoples of the B.C. West Coast.”
